2026 Youth Summer Reading Shin-Dig!
June 15 - July 30
Embark on a journey to the past...with a few twists! Sign up to receive your “field journal” and a sticker: then earn small prizes all summer whenever you log 140 minutes of reading. Read beyond that, attend programs, and visit the library for the chance to win some of our grand prizes!

Cemetery Walk
Thursday, July 2 from 3 - 4:30 PM
Learn about different headstones, tombs, and mausoleums in our local cemetery as well as alternate burial styles! Then meet us back at the museum to look at and interpret cave painting and gravestone symbols. This program is a partnership between the Jefferson Public Library and the Greene County Historical Society.

After-Hours Movie Night: The Mummy
Thursday, July 9 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Enjoy pizza and a special after-hours showing of "The Mummy" upstairs in the Youth Department. In this film, a group of treasure hunters and archaeologists accidentally unleash a cursed Egyptian priest and must stop him from ending the world. The Science of Rocks!

Some rocks spark, some rocks glow, and some rocks...just look really neat! Learn about, look at, and touch some unique and odd rocks/minerals at this awesome presentation: then receive a special prize of your own to take home.
Dungeons & Dragons One-Shot Adventures

Three Dungeon Masters. Three adventures. One awesome night.
Learn the basics and enjoy a short two-hour D&D campaign featuring pre-rolled characters! Perfect for beginning and seasoned adventurers alike. Maximum of 4 teens per party.
